Frequently asked questions.

What can I use to cut the pipes (straws)?

Scissors are the best method of cutting the pipes (straws). Adult supervision is advised when younger children are using scissors to cut the pipes (straws). Scissors are not provided by SSWW so please choose scissors appropriate for the age of the user.

When I cut the straw “pipes” they sometimes stick together and seal flat?

This sometimes can happen due to the small amount of heat and or friction caused by the scissors pressing the pipe (straw) together as it cuts. If this happens gently pinch the pipe (straw) between your fingers and pop it open then roll it between your fingers for a moment or so until it regains the proper shape.

Can I order more of certain fittings?

At this time we do not have sets of individual fittings available but this may become a possibility in the future.

Are there more sets coming out soon?

Yes! Small Scale Water Works is a fairly new company and growing slowly but surely. Keep checking back to see all of our new items. I want to use my own pipes (Straws) with the fittings what size straws are used with the fittings?

Please be aware straw sizes can vary between brands and even between batches made by the same manufacturer. Some straws listed as the correct size may not work with the fittings due to these variations. We have designed the fittings to accept some variation in the size of the straws used with them but some still may not work.
The 4” fittings are designed to work with straws with a diameter of 0.44 inches (7/16th of an inch).
The 3” fittings are designed to work with straws with a diameter of 0.31 inches (5/16th of an inch).
The 2” fittings are designed to work with straws with a diameter of 0.21" inches.
